From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Lithuania (-2.4%).

Imports into Latvia
Salt imports into Latvia soared to X tons in 2022, jumping by 59% against the year before. Over the period under review, imports posted a resilient increase. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2021 when imports increased by 207% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports attained the peak figure in 2022 and are expected to retain growth in the near future.
In value terms, salt imports soared to $X in 2022. Overall, imports enjoyed buoyant growth. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 when imports increased by 112%. Imports peaked in 2022 and are likely to see gradual growth in years to come.

Morocco (X tons), Germany (X tons) and Egypt (X tons) were the main suppliers of salt imports to Latvia, with a combined 66% share of total imports.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of purchases, amongst the main suppliers, was attained by Egypt (with a CAGR of +901.1%), while imports for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2022, the average salt import price amounted to $X per ton, surging by 4.8% against the previous year. In general, the import price, however, showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 an increase of 82% against the previous year. As a result, import price reached the peak level of $X per ton. From 2021 to 2022, the average import prices remained at a lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Estonia ($X per ton), while the price for Belarus ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Denmark (+2.5%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
