In 2022, the average sewing thread export price amounted to $X per ton, falling by -6.7% against the previous year. Overall, the export price recorded a slight downturn. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2015 an increase of 33%. The export price peaked at $X per ton in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, the export prices remained at a lower figure.

Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Belarus ($X per ton), while the average price for exports to Bulgaria ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Croatia (+20.6%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2022, the amount of sewing thread of man-made filaments or staple fibers imported into Latvia dropped to X tons, waning by -4.6% compared with the previous year. In general, imports continue to indicate a pronounced downturn. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2021 with an increase of 39% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports attained the peak figure at X tons in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2022, imports remained at a lower figure.

In value terms, sewing thread imports totaled $X in 2022. Over the period under review, imports recorded a pronounced downturn. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2021 when imports increased by 47% against the previous year. Imports peaked at $X in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2022, imports failed to regain momentum.

Poland (X tons), China (X tons) and Germany (X tons) were the main suppliers of sewing thread imports to Latvia, together accounting for 73% of total imports. Romania, Turkey, Lithuania, Sweden, Finland and Estonia lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further 22%.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of purchases, amongst the main suppliers, was attained by Romania (with a CAGR of +239.8%), while imports for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
