In general, exports, however, posted a strong expansion. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2018 when exports increased by X%. The exports peaked at X tons in 2021, and then declined dramatically in the following year.
In value terms, styrene-acrylonitrile exports dropped sharply to $X in 2022. Over the period under review, exports, however, recorded strong growth. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2018 with an increase of X% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the exports attained the maximum at $X in 2021, and then contracted significantly in the following year.
Exports by Country
Belarus (X tons), Poland (X tons) and Thailand (X tons) were the main destinations of styrene-acrylonitrile exports from Latvia, together accounting for X% of total exports. Ukraine, Estonia, Germany, the Netherlands and Lithuania lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further X%.

For the fourth year in a row, Latvia recorded decline in overseas purchases of styrene-acrylonitrile (san) and acrylonitrile-butadiene-styrene (abs) copolymers (in primary forms), which decreased by X% to X tons in 2022. Over the period under review, imports, however, continue to indicate a buoyant expansion. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2016 with an increase of X%. Over the period under review, imports attained the maximum at X tons in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2022, imports failed to regain momentum.
In value terms, styrene-acrylonitrile imports expanded modestly to $X in 2022. Overall, imports, however, posted strong growth. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2018 when imports increased by X% against the previous year. As a result, imports attained the peak of $X. From 2019 to 2022, the growth of imports remained at a somewhat lower figure.
Imports by Country
In 2022, South Korea (X tons) constituted the largest styrene-acrylonitrile supplier to Latvia, accounting for a X% share of total imports. Moreover, styrene-acrylonitrile imports from South Korea exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, Finland (X tons), more than tenfold. France (X tons) ranked third in terms of total imports with a X% share.
