Canned Food Market Size in Libya

In 2021, the Libyan canned food market decreased by -1.8% to $X, falling for the fifth year in a row after three years of growth. In general, consumption continues to indicate a mild decline. Greece (X tons) was the main destination for canned food exports from Libya, accounting for a 1,575% share of total exports. Moreover, canned food exports to Greece exceeded the volume sent to the second major destination, the United States (X tons), fourfold.

Canned food imports into Libya skyrocketed to X tons in 2021, rising by 41% against the previous year's figure. In general, imports, however, continue to indicate a pronounced descent. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2019 with an increase of 67%. Imports peaked at X tons in 2016; however, from 2017 to 2021, imports remained at a lower figure.

In value terms, canned food imports surged to $X in 2021. Over the period under review, imports, however, recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2018 when imports increased by 38% against the previous year.
