In value terms, durum wheat imports soared to $X in 2022. Overall, imports showed buoyant growth. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2017 when imports increased by 254%. Over the period under review, imports attained the maximum in 2022 and are expected to retain growth in the immediate term.

Spain (X tons), Canada (X tons) and Turkey (X tons) were the main suppliers of durum wheat imports to Libya, together comprising 64% of total imports. These countries were followed by Italy, which accounted for a further 4.3%.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Turkey (+73.4%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
