Exports by Country
Turkey (X tons) was the main destination for prepared dish and meal exports from Libya, with a 80% share of total exports. Moreover, prepared dish and meal exports to Turkey exceeded the volume sent to the second major destination, Malaysia (X tons), tenfold.
From 2012 to 2021, the average annual rate of growth in terms of volume to Turkey was relatively modest. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Malaysia (-51.5% per year) and Egypt (-46.2% per year).
In value terms, Turkey ($X) emerged as the key foreign market for prepared dishes and meals exports from Libya, comprising 56% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Malaysia ($X), with a 21% share of total exports.
From 2012 to 2021, the average annual growth rate of value to Turkey was relatively modest. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Malaysia (-25.3% per year) and Egypt (-47.7% per year).
Export Prices by Country
The average prepared dish and meal export price stood at $X per ton in 2021, with an increase of 44% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price, however, recorded a pronounced curtailment. The export price peaked at $X per ton in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, the export prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major overseas markets. In 2021, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Malaysia ($X per ton), while the average price for exports to Egypt ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Malaysia (+53.9%).

Imports into Libya
In 2021, imports of prepared dishes and meals into Libya amounted to X tons, picking up by 13% on 2020 figures. Over the period under review, imports showed buoyant growth. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 with an increase of 132%. Over the period under review, imports hit record highs in 2021 and are expected to retain growth in years to come.
In value terms, prepared dish and meal imports rose significantly to $X in 2021. Overall, imports continue to indicate a resilient expansion. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2015 with an increase of 239%. As a result, imports attained the peak of $X. From 2016 to 2021, the growth of imports remained at a somewhat lower figure.
Imports by Country
Germany (X tons), Spain (X tons) and Turkey (X tons) were the main suppliers of prepared dish and meal imports to Libya, together accounting for 26% of total imports. These countries were followed by Tunisia, the Netherlands, Italy, Poland, Egypt, the United Arab Emirates, Bulgaria, Denmark, Malta and Saudi Arabia, which together accounted for a further 26%.
From 2012 to 2021, the biggest increases were recorded for Poland (with a CAGR of +103.4%), while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, Germany ($X) constituted the largest supplier of prepared dishes and meals to Libya, comprising 11% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Turkey ($X), with a 4.9% share of total imports. It was followed by Spain, with a 4.7% share.
From 2012 to 2021, the average annual rate of growth in terms of value from Germany totaled +8.5%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Turkey (+11.0% per year) and Spain (-0.8% per year).
Import Prices by Country
In 2021, the average prepared dish and meal import price amounted to $X per ton, almost unchanged from the previous year. In general, the import price, however, showed a pronounced expansion. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2015 an increase of 101%. As a result, import price attained the peak level of $X per ton. From 2016 to 2021, the average import prices remained at a somewhat lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2021, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Denmark ($X per ton), while the price for Saudi Arabia ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by the United Arab Emirates (+18.7%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
