Millet Market Size in Libya

In 2022, the Libyan millet market increased by 55% to $X for the first time since 2017, thus ending a four-year declining trend. In value terms, millet imports skyrocketed to $X in 2022. Overall, imports saw a significant increase. As a result, imports reached the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

In 2022, India (X tons) constituted the largest millet supplier to Libya, with a 79% share of total imports. Moreover, millet imports from India exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, Turkey (X tons), fourfold.

From 2012 to 2022, the average annual rate of growth in terms of volume from India totaled +14.0%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Turkey (+100.3% per year) and Ukraine (-1.0% per year).

In value terms, India ($X) constituted the largest supplier of millet to Libya, comprising 81% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Turkey ($X), with an 18% share of total imports.

Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was India ($X per ton), while the price for Ukraine ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by India (+3.7%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced a decline.
