Imports into Libya
In 2021, supplies from abroad of tubes, pipes and hoses of vulcanized rubber increased by 16% to X tons, rising for the sixth year in a row after three years of decline. Overall, imports, however, saw a noticeable decline. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2018 when imports increased by 66%. Imports peaked at X tons in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, imports failed to regain momentum.

Imports by Country
In 2021, China (X tons) constituted the largest rubber tube and pipe supplier to Libya, with a 31% share of total imports. Moreover, rubber tube and pipe imports from China exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, Italy (X tons), twofold. Turkey (X tons) ranked third in terms of total imports with an 8.8% share.
From 2012 to 2021, the average annual rate of growth in terms of volume from China totaled -5.6%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Italy (-10.8% per year) and Turkey (-4.6% per year).
In value terms, the largest rubber tube and pipe suppliers to Libya were Italy ($X), China ($X) and France ($X), with a combined 34% share of total imports. These countries were followed by Tunisia, Spain, Turkey, the UK, Germany, the United States and the United Arab Emirates, which together accounted for a further 27%.
Tunisia, with a CAGR of +53.9%, saw the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of imports, among the main suppliers over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2017 when the average import price increased by 28% against the previous year. The import price peaked at $X per ton in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2021, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2021, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was France ($X per ton), while the price for China ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
