Uncoated Felt Paper Market Size in Libya

After three years of decline, the Libyan uncoated felt paper market increased by 14% to $X in 2022. In general, consumption, however, continues to indicate a precipitous decline. Uncoated felt paper consumption peaked at $X in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, consumption remained at a lower figure.

After three years of decline, supplies from abroad of uncoated felt paper and paperboard increased by 17% to X tons in 2022. Over the period under review, imports, however, continue to indicate a precipitous decrease. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2018 when imports increased by 56% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports reached the maximum at X tons in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, imports failed to regain momentum.

In value terms, uncoated felt paper imports expanded significantly to $X in 2022. In general, imports, however, recorded a significant contraction. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2018 when imports increased by 19% against the previous year. Imports peaked at $X in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

Turkey (X tons), the United Arab Emirates (X tons) and Egypt (X kg) were the main suppliers of uncoated felt paper imports to Libya.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of purchases, amongst the main suppliers, was attained by Turkey (with a CAGR of +31.5%), while imports for the other leaders experienced a decline.

In value terms, Egypt ($X) constituted the largest supplier of uncoated felt paper and paperboard to Libya, comprising 63% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was held by Turkey ($X), with a 19% share of total imports.

From 2012 to 2022, the average annual growth rate of value from Egypt was relatively modest. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Turkey (-7.2% per year) and the United Arab Emirates (-35.1% per year).

The average uncoated felt paper import price stood at $X per ton in 2022, shrinking by -3.9% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the import price, however, enjoyed a noticeable expansion. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2019 an increase of 32% against the previous year. As a result, import price reached the peak level of $X per ton. From 2020 to 2022, the average import prices remained at a somewhat lower figure.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Egypt ($X per ton), while the price for Turkey ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Egypt (+15.7%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced a decline.
