For the fifth consecutive year, Libya recorded decline in overseas shipments of spirits, liqueurs and other spirituous beverages, which decreased by 0% to X litres in 2017. Overall, exports recorded a precipitous decrease. The smallest decline of -15.2% was in 2014. Over the period under review, the exports of hit record highs at X litres in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2017, the exports remained at a lower figure.
In value terms, exports of spirits, liqueurs and other spirituous beverages amounted to $X in 2017. In general, exports continue to indicate a precipitous setback. The smallest decline of -14.5% was in 2014. Over the period under review, the exports of reached the peak figure at $X in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2017, the exports remained at a lower figure.

Trinidad and Tobago (X litres) was the main destination for exports of spirits, liqueurs and other spirituous beverages from Libya, with a approx. 100% share of total exports.

Imports into Libya
After two years of growth, supplies from abroad of spirits, liqueurs and other spirituous beverages decreased by -27% to X litres in 2022. In general, imports, however, showed a resilient increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 when imports increased by 1,042% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports of reached the peak figure at X litres in 2021, and then declined notably in the following year.
In value terms, imports of spirits, liqueurs and other spirituous beverages shrank sharply to $X in 2022. Overall, imports, however, posted noticeable growth. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2020 when imports increased by 783% against the previous year. Imports peaked at $X in 2021, and then shrank sharply in the following year.
Imports by Country
Tunisia (X litres), Lebanon (X litres) and Ukraine (X litres) were the main suppliers of imports of spirits, liqueurs and other spirituous beverages to Libya, together accounting for 95% of total imports.
From 2012 to 2022, the biggest increases were recorded for Tunisia (with a CAGR of +59.4%), while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, Lebanon ($X) constituted the largest supplier of spirits, liqueurs and other spirituous beverages to Libya, comprising 48% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Tunisia ($X), with a 15% share of total imports. It was followed by Malta, with a 12% share.
From 2012 to 2022, the average annual growth rate of value from Lebanon amounted to +33.9%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Tunisia (+58.4% per year) and Malta (-2.1% per year).

In general, the import price continues to indicate a abrupt decrease. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2016 an increase of 65%. The import price peaked at $X per litre in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Malta ($X per litre), while the price for Ukraine ($X per litre) was amongst the lowest.
