In general, imports, however, recorded a perceptible reduction. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2018 with an increase of 684%. Imports peaked at X tons in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2021, imports remained at a lower figure.

In value terms, glass fiber imports soared to $X in 2021. Overall, imports showed prominent growth. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2018 when imports increased by 745% against the previous year. Imports peaked at $X in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2021, imports remained at a lower figure.

Imports by Country

Germany (X tons), China (X tons) and Turkey (X tons) were the main suppliers of glass fiber imports to Libya, together accounting for 60% of total imports. These countries were followed by Egypt, Malaysia, Malta, the Czech Republic, Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates, which together accounted for a further 26%.

From 2012 to 2021, the biggest increases were recorded for Malta (with a CAGR of +61.3%), while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, the Czech Republic ($X) constituted the largest supplier of voiles, webs, mats and other articles of glass fibers to Libya, comprising 26% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was taken by China ($X), with a 9.3% share of total imports. It was followed by Germany, with a 7.9% share.

From 2012 to 2021, the average annual rate of growth in terms of value from the Czech Republic totaled +10.7%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: China (+17.1% per year) and Germany (+3.8% per year).

Import Prices by Country

The average glass fiber import price stood at $X per ton in 2021, picking up by 156% against the previous year. In general, the import price posted a strong increase. As a result, import price attained the peak level and is likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was the Czech Republic ($X per ton), while the price for Turkey ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by the United Arab Emirates (+22.6%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
