In 2022, exports of chainsaws with a self-contained non-electric motor from Lithuania skyrocketed to X units, increasing by 118% against the previous year. Latvia (X units) was the main destination for non-electric chainsaw exports from Lithuania, with a 62% share of total exports. Moreover, non-electric chainsaw exports to Latvia exceeded the volume sent to the second major destination, Kyrgyzstan (X units), twofold. The third position in this ranking was held by Estonia (X units), with a 3.8% share.

In value terms, Latvia ($X) remains the key foreign market for chainsaws with a self-contained non-electric motor exports from Lithuania, comprising 80% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was held by Kyrgyzstan ($X), with a 4.9% share of total exports. It was followed by Finland, with a 3.9% share.

From 2012 to 2022, the average annual growth rate of value to Latvia totaled +21.2%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Kyrgyzstan (+100.3% per year) and Finland (+129.7% per year).

In 2022, the average non-electric chainsaw export price amounted to $X per unit, dropping by -18% against the previous year. In general, export price indicated a mild increase from 2012 to 2022: its price increased at an average annual rate of +1.3% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, non-electric chainsaw export price increased by +33.6% against 2020 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 when the average export price increased by 63% against the previous year. From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Kazakhstan (+35.6%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

Imports into Lithuania

In 2022, the amount of chainsaws with a self-contained non-electric motor imported into Lithuania soared to X units, growing by 32% compared with 2021 figures. Overall, imports enjoyed strong growth. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 with an increase of 44% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports reached the peak figure in 2022 and are expected to retain growth in years to come.

In value terms, non-electric chainsaw imports skyrocketed to $X in 2022. In general, total imports indicated strong growth from 2012 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +5.6% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports increased by +120.4% against 2019 indices. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2021 when imports increased by 56%. Imports peaked in 2022 and are expected to retain growth in the near future.

Imports by Country

China (X units), Germany (X units) and Sweden (X units) were the main suppliers of non-electric chainsaw imports to Lithuania, with a combined 78% share of total imports. Poland, Estonia, the United States and Latvia lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further 18%.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of purchases, amongst the main suppliers, was attained by Poland (with a CAGR of +65.0%), while imports for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, Germany ($X), China ($X) and Sweden ($X) were the largest non-electric chainsaw suppliers to Lithuania, together accounting for 85% of total imports. Estonia, the United States, Poland and Latvia lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further 12%.

Poland, with a CAGR of +53.0%, saw the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of imports, in terms of the main suppliers over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

The average non-electric chainsaw import price stood at $X per unit in 2022, dropping by -7.4% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the import price saw a noticeable downturn. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 an increase of 16%. Over the period under review, average import prices attained the maximum at $X per unit in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, import prices failed to regain momentum.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Germany ($X per unit), while the price for Poland ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.
