Latvia (X tons) was the main destination for cherry and sour cherry exports from Lithuania, accounting for a 78% share of total exports. Moreover, cherry and sour cherry exports to Latvia exceeded the volume sent to the second major destination, Estonia (X tons), sevenfold. The United States (X tons) ranked third in terms of total exports with a 3.3% share.

From 2012 to 2022, the average annual growth rate of value to Latvia stood at +24.5%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Estonia (+154.3% per year) and the United States (0.0% per year).

The average cherry and sour cherry export price stood at $X per ton in 2022, which is down by -12.9% against the previous year. In general, the export price recorded a deep downturn. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2019 when the average export price increased by 332% against the previous year. For the fourth year in a row, Lithuania recorded decline in overseas purchases of cherries and sour cherries, which decreased by -2% to X tons in 2022. In general, imports saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2015 with an increase of 407%. As a result, imports reached the peak of X tons. From 2016 to 2022, the growth of imports failed to regain momentum.

In value terms, cherry and sour cherry imports dropped to $X in 2022. Over the period under review, imports recorded a noticeable decline. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2015 with an increase of 105%. As a result, imports attained the peak of $X. From 2016 to 2022, the growth of imports remained at a somewhat lower figure.

Greece (X tons), Germany (X tons) and Poland (X tons) were the main suppliers of cherry and sour cherry imports to Lithuania, together accounting for 87% of total imports.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of purchases, amongst the main suppliers, was attained by Germany (with a CAGR of +78.5%), while imports for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
