Over the period under review, consumption, however, recorded a strong increase. Fiberboard consumption peaked in 2022 and is expected to retain growth in years to come.

Exports from Lithuania
In 2022, the amount of fiber board of wood or other ligneous materials exported from Lithuania reduced notably to X cubic meters, falling by -21.5% on the previous year's figure. The total export volume increased at an average annual rate of +1.8% from 2012 to 2022; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded in certain years. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2019 with an increase of 16% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the exports reached the peak figure at X cubic meters in 2021, and then plummeted in the following year.
In value terms, fiberboard exports reduced to $X in 2022. Overall, total exports indicated a notable expansion from 2012 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +2.4% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, exports increased by +37.5% against 2020 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 when exports increased by 41%. As a result, the exports reached the peak of $X, and then declined in the following year.

Poland (X cubic meters) was the main destination for fiberboard exports from Lithuania, with a 42% share of total exports. Moreover, fiberboard exports to Poland exceeded the volume sent to the second major destination, Latvia (X cubic meters), fourfold. Sweden (X cubic meters) ranked third in terms of total exports with an 11% share.
From 2012 to 2022, the average annual rate of growth in terms of volume to Poland totaled +5.2%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Latvia (+7.0% per year) and Sweden (+0.5% per year).
In value terms, Poland ($X) remains the key foreign market for fiber board of wood or other ligneous materials exports from Lithuania, comprising 34% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Latvia ($X), with a 15% share of total exports. It was followed by Sweden, with an 11% share.
From 2012 to 2022, the average annual growth rate of value to Poland stood at +7.7%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Latvia (+8.1% per year) and Sweden (+2.3% per year).
Export Prices by Country
The average fiberboard export price stood at $X per cubic meter in 2022, with an increase of 24% against the previous year. Overall, the export price saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2021 when the average export price increased by 30%. Over the period under review, the average export prices reached the maximum at $X per cubic meter in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2022, the export prices remained at a lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major foreign markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Russia ($X per cubic meter), while the average price for exports to Poland ($X per cubic meter) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Russia (+4.9%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

Imports into Lithuania
In 2022, approx. X cubic meters of fiber board of wood or other ligneous materials were imported into Lithuania; shrinking by -10.8% against the year before. In general, imports, however, posted a buoyant increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 when imports increased by 24% against the previous year. As a result, imports attained the peak of X cubic meters, and then dropped in the following year.
In value terms, fiberboard imports expanded rapidly to $X in 2022. Overall, imports, however, saw a remarkable increase. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2021 with an increase of 58% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports reached the peak figure in 2022 and are likely to see gradual growth in years to come.
Imports by Country
In 2022, Poland (X cubic meters) constituted the largest fiberboard supplier to Lithuania, accounting for a 64% share of total imports. Moreover, fiberboard imports from Poland exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, Belarus (X cubic meters), fivefold. The third position in this ranking was taken by Germany (X cubic meters), with a 9.3% share.
From 2012 to 2022, the average annual rate of growth in terms of volume from Poland amounted to +4.1%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Belarus (+34.7% per year) and Germany (+5.1% per year).
In value terms, Poland ($X) constituted the largest supplier of fiber board of wood or other ligneous materials to Lithuania, comprising 66% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Germany ($X), with a 9.1% share of total imports. It was followed by Belarus, with an 8.5% share.
From 2012 to 2022, the average annual rate of growth in terms of value from Poland stood at +8.7%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Germany (+6.9% per year) and Belarus (+41.6% per year).
Import Prices by Country
In 2022, the average fiberboard import price amounted to $X per cubic meter, with an increase of 20% against the previous year. Over the period under review, import price indicated a tangible expansion from 2012 to 2022: its price increased at an average annual rate of +3.6% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, fiberboard import price increased by +68.4% against 2019 indices. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2021 when the average import price increased by 27%. Over the period under review, average import prices attained the maximum in 2022 and is expected to retain growth in years to come.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Latvia ($X per cubic meter), while the price for Belarus ($X per cubic meter) was amongst the lowest.
