In 2022, overseas shipments of mixed condiments, sauses and seasonings increased by 10% to X tons, rising for the fifth year in a row after four years of decline. In general, exports showed a tangible increase. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2021 with an increase of 55%. Over the period under review, the exports reached the maximum in 2022 and are expected to retain growth in the near future.
In value terms, mixed condiment, sause and seasoning exports skyrocketed to $X in 2022. Overall, exports continue to indicate a prominent expansion. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 when exports increased by 50% against the previous year. The exports peaked in 2022 and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
Exports by Country
Poland (X tons), Latvia (X tons) and Russia (X tons) were the main destinations of mixed condiment, sause and seasoning exports from Lithuania, with a combined 61% share of total exports. Estonia, Finland, the UK, Ukraine, Belgium, Bulgaria, Denmark and the Czech Republic lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further 30%.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of shipments, amongst the main countries of destination, was attained by Belgium (with a CAGR of +74.3%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, the largest markets for mixed condiment, sause and seasoning exported from Lithuania were Poland ($X), Russia ($X) and Estonia ($X), together accounting for 62% of total exports. Latvia, the UK, Finland, Ukraine, Bulgaria, Denmark, Belgium and the Czech Republic lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further 28%.
Among the main countries of destination, Belgium, with a CAGR of +46.4%, saw the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of exports, over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2022, the average export price for mixed condiments, sauses and seasonings amounted to $X per ton, surging by 10% against the previous year. Over the last decade, it increased at an average annual rate of +2.6%. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 an increase of 22% against the previous year. The export price peaked in 2022 and is likely to see steady growth in the immediate term.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major foreign markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Russia ($X per ton), while the average price for exports to Belgium ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to the Czech Republic (+6.0%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.
Imports of Mixed Condiments, Sauses and Seasonings
Imports into Lithuania
In 2022, purchases abroad of mixed condiments, sauses and seasonings decreased by -17.4% to X tons for the first time since 2016, thus ending a five-year rising trend. Overall, total imports indicated a perceptible increase from 2012 to 2022: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +3.0% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2019 with an increase of 18%. Over the period under review, imports attained the peak figure at X tons in 2021, and then reduced markedly in the following year.
In value terms, mixed condiment, sause and seasoning imports fell to $X in 2022. Over the period under review, imports, however, saw a buoyant expansion. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 when imports increased by 18%. Imports peaked at $X in 2021, and then contracted in the following year.
Imports by Country
In 2022, Germany (X tons) constituted the largest mixed condiment, sause and seasoning supplier to Lithuania, accounting for a 38% share of total imports. Moreover, mixed condiment, sause and seasoning imports from Germany exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, Poland (X tons), twofold. The third position in this ranking was held by Latvia (X tons), with a 14% share.
From 2012 to 2022, the average annual growth rate of volume from Germany stood at +6.2%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Poland (+0.6% per year) and Latvia (+11.5% per year).
In value terms, Germany ($X), Poland ($X) and Latvia ($X) constituted the largest mixed condiment, sause and seasoning suppliers to Lithuania, with a combined 58% share of total imports. Estonia, the Netherlands, Italy, Hungary, Croatia, Ukraine and Russia lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further 30%.
Hungary, with a CAGR of +60.4%, recorded the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of imports, among the main suppliers over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
Import Prices by Country
In 2022, the average import price for mixed condiments, sauses and seasonings amounted to $X per ton, increasing by 3% against the previous year. Over the last decade, it increased at an average annual rate of +2.7%. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2013 an increase of 10%. The import price peaked in 2022 and is expected to retain growth in the immediate term.
Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Estonia ($X per ton), while the price for Ukraine ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
