Over the period under review, the exports hit record highs at $X in 2021, and then reduced sharply in the following year.

Russia (X tons), Latvia (X tons) and Estonia (X tons) were the main destinations of pimenta pepper exports from Lithuania, with a combined 88% share of total exports. Ukraine, the UK and Belarus lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further 7%.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of shipments, amongst the main countries of destination, was attained by Ukraine (with a CAGR of +51.4%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

From 2012 to 2022, the average annual growth rate of value to Russia stood at +14.8%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Latvia (+3.4% per year) and Ukraine (+62.9% per year).

The average pimenta pepper export price stood at $X per ton in 2022, picking up by 11% against the previous year. In general, the export price showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2017 an increase of 36% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the average export prices hit record highs at $X per ton in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2022, the export prices failed to regain momentum.

Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Ukraine ($X per ton), while the average price for exports to Latvia ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.

Imports into Lithuania

Pimenta pepper imports into Lithuania stood at X tons in 2022, increasing by 4.6% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports enjoyed a strong expansion. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2020 when imports increased by 46%. Over the period under review, imports hit record highs in 2022 and are expected to retain growth in the immediate term.

In value terms, pimenta pepper imports skyrocketed to $X in 2022. In general, imports showed a resilient increase. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2021 with an increase of 33%. Imports peaked in 2022 and are expected to retain growth in the near future.
