Imports into Lithuania
In 2022, purchases abroad of polyvinyl chloride decreased by -2.2% to X tons for the first time since 2019, thus ending a two-year rising trend. In general, imports, however, showed a buoyant increase. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2020 when imports increased by 62% against the previous year. Imports peaked at X tons in 2021, and then fell modestly in the following year.
In value terms, polyvinyl chloride imports shrank to $X in 2022. Overall, imports, however, enjoyed a remarkable increase. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2021 when imports increased by 94% against the previous year. As a result, imports reached the peak of $X, and then dropped in the following year.
Imports by Country
In 2022, Russia (X tons) constituted the largest supplier of polyvinyl chloride to Lithuania, with a 65% share of total imports. Moreover, polyvinyl chloride imports from Russia exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, Germany (X tons), fivefold. Belgium (X tons) ranked third in terms of total imports with a 9.5% share.
