In value terms, potato chips imports rose notably to $X in 2022. Overall, imports continue to indicate a prominent increase. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2017 with an increase of 47% against the previous year. Imports peaked at $X in 2020; however, from 2021 to 2022, imports remained at a lower figure.

Imports by Country

In 2022, Poland (X tons) constituted the largest potato chips supplier to Lithuania, with a 80% share of total imports. Moreover, potato chips imports from Poland exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, Latvia (X tons), sevenfold.

From 2012 to 2022, the average annual growth rate of volume from Poland totaled +18.0%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Latvia (+2.0% per year) and Germany (+16.4% per year).

In value terms, Poland ($X) constituted the largest supplier of potato chips to Lithuania, comprising 76% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was held by Latvia ($X), with an 11% share of total imports.

From 2012 to 2022, the average annual rate of growth in terms of value from Poland totaled +18.0%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Latvia (-1.2% per year) and Germany (+21.1% per year).

In 2022, the average potato chips import price amounted to $X per ton, approximately equating the previous year. Over the period under review, the import price continues to indicate a noticeable descent. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2013 an increase of 18% against the previous year. Over the period under review, average import prices hit record highs at $X per ton in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2022, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Germany ($X per ton), while the price for Poland ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Germany (+4.1%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced a decline.
