Overall, total exports indicated a buoyant expansion from 2012 to 2022: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +7.7% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The exports peaked at X tons in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2022, the exports stood at a somewhat lower figure.
In value terms, exports of shampoos, hair lacquers and other preparations expanded significantly to $X in 2022. Over the period under review, exports continue to indicate prominent growth. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2013 when exports increased by 47%. The exports peaked at $X in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2022, the exports remained at a lower figure.
Exports by Country
Russia (X tons) was the main destination for exports of shampoos, hair lacquers and other preparations from Lithuania, with a 33% share of total exports. Moreover, exports of shampoos, hair lacquers and other preparations to Russia exceeded the volume sent to the second major destination, Poland (X tons), threefold. Kyrgyzstan (X tons) ranked third in terms of total exports with a 9.5% share.

In value terms, Russia ($X) remains the key foreign market for shampoos, hair lacquers and other preparations exports from Lithuania, comprising 27% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was held by Poland ($X), with a 12% share of total exports. It was followed by Kyrgyzstan, with an 8.4% share.
From 2012 to 2022, the average annual rate of growth in terms of value to Russia totaled +3.8%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Poland (+44.7% per year) and Kyrgyzstan (+41.4% per year).

In 2022, the average export price for shampoos, hair lacquers and other preparations amounted to $X per ton, which is down by -20.6% against the previous year. Over the last decade, it increased at an average annual rate of +2.6%. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2013 when the average export price increased by 27%. The export price peaked at $X per ton in 2021, and then declined markedly in the following year.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major overseas markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was the Netherlands ($X per ton), while the average price for exports to Uzbekistan ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Estonia (+9.4%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

Imports into Lithuania
In 2022, after three years of decline, there was significant growth in purchases abroad of shampoos, hair lacquers and other preparations, when their volume increased by 20% to X tons. Over the period under review, total imports indicated buoyant growth from 2012 to 2022: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +6.6% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2013 when imports increased by 45% against the previous year. Imports peaked at X tons in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2022, imports failed to regain momentum.
In value terms, imports of shampoos, hair lacquers and other preparations soared to $X in 2022. In general, total imports indicated a prominent expansion from 2012 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +9.7% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports increased by +35.3% against 2019 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2013 when imports increased by 54% against the previous year. Imports peaked in 2022 and are expected to retain growth in the immediate term.
Imports by Country
Poland (X tons), Italy (X tons) and the United States (X tons) were the main suppliers of imports of shampoos, hair lacquers and other preparations to Lithuania, together comprising 57% of total imports. Latvia, Spain, Germany, the Netherlands, Greece, Estonia, France and Russia lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further 34%.
From 2012 to 2022, the biggest increases were recorded for Greece (with a CAGR of +50.1%), while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, the largest shampoo, hair lacquer and other preparations suppliers to Lithuania were Poland ($X), Italy ($X) and Latvia ($X), with a combined 49% share of total imports. In 2022, the average import price for shampoos, hair lacquers and other preparations amounted to $X per ton, reducing by -2.3% against the previous year. Over the last decade, it increased at an average annual rate of +3.0%. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2021 an increase of 22%. As a result, import price attained the peak level of $X per ton, and then dropped modestly in the following year.
Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Estonia ($X per ton), while the price for Russia ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
