Latvia (X tons), Poland (X tons) and Russia (X tons) were the main destinations of plastic ornamental articles exports from Lithuania, together accounting for 64% of total exports. Estonia, Kazakhstan, Austria, Greece, Denmark and Belarus lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further 26%.

From 2012 to 2022, the biggest increases were recorded for Greece (with a CAGR of +337.8%), while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, the largest markets for plastic ornamental articles exported from Lithuania were Russia ($X), Latvia ($X) and Estonia ($X), with a combined 66% share of total exports. Kazakhstan, Poland, Austria, Greece, Belarus and Denmark lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further 19%.

In terms of the main countries of destination, Greece, with a CAGR of +231.3%, recorded the highest growth rate of the value of exports, over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Export Prices by Country

The average plastic ornamental articles export price stood at $X per ton in 2022, flattening at the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price, however, saw a mild contraction. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2018 an increase of 14% against the previous year. The export price peaked at $X per ton in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, the export prices remained at a lower figure.

There were significant differences in the average prices for the major foreign markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Russia ($X per ton), while the average price for exports to Poland ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Norway (+16.8%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

Imports into Lithuania

In 2022, imports of statuettes and other ornamental articles of plastic into Lithuania soared to X tons, increasing by 19% on 2021 figures. Over the period under review, imports recorded prominent growth. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2016 when imports increased by 76%. Over the period under review, imports hit record highs in 2022 and are likely to see gradual growth in the near future.

In value terms, plastic ornamental articles imports skyrocketed to $X in 2022. Overall, imports saw a resilient expansion. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2016 with an increase of 73% against the previous year. Imports peaked in 2022 and are expected to retain growth in the immediate term.

Imports by Country

China (X tons), Poland (X tons) and Germany (X tons) were the main suppliers of plastic ornamental articles imports to Lithuania, together comprising 75% of total imports. Latvia, the Netherlands, Italy and Belarus lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further 19%.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of purchases, amongst the main suppliers, was attained by Belarus (with a CAGR of +116.4%), while imports for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, China ($X) constituted the largest supplier of statuettes and other ornamental articles of plastic to Lithuania, comprising 40% of total imports. Over the last decade, it increased at an average annual rate of +1.5%. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2021 when the average import price increased by 15%. As a result, import price reached the peak level of $X per ton, and then dropped modestly in the following year.

Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was the Netherlands ($X per ton), while the price for Poland ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
