Lithuania: Concrete Tile Market 2024

Concrete Tile Market Size in Lithuania

In 2022, the Lithuanian concrete tile market decreased by -15.3% to $X for the first time since 2015, thus ending a six-year rising trend. In general, consumption, however, showed a strong expansion. Concrete tile consumption peaked at $X in 2021, and then contracted markedly in the following year.

Concrete Tile Production in Lithuania

In value terms, concrete tile production reduced slightly to $X in 2022 estimated in export price. Over the period under review, production, however, continues to indicate a resilient increase. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2020 when the production volume increased by 22% against the previous year. Over the period under review, production hit record highs at $X in 2021, and then declined modestly in the following year.

Concrete Tile Exports

Exports from Lithuania

In 2022, shipments abroad of tiles, flagstones, bricks and similar articles, of cement, concrete or artificial stone decreased by -0.5% to X tons, falling for the second year in a row after two years of growth. Overall, exports showed a slight descent. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 with an increase of 77%. The exports peaked at X tons in 2020; however, from 2021 to 2022, the exports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

In value terms, concrete tile exports skyrocketed to $X in 2022. Over the period under review, exports, however, continue to indicate a buoyant increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 when exports increased by 77% against the previous year. The exports peaked in 2022 and are likely to see steady growth in years to come.

Exports by Country

Sweden (X tons) was the main destination for concrete tile exports from Lithuania, accounting for a 64% share of total exports. Moreover, concrete tile exports to Sweden exceeded the volume sent to the second major destination, Latvia (X tons), twofold. Estonia (X tons) ranked third in terms of total exports with a 3.6% share.

From 2012 to 2022, the average annual rate of growth in terms of volume to Sweden stood at +70.7%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Latvia (-9.1% per year) and Estonia (+18.0% per year).

In value terms, Sweden ($X) remains the key foreign market for tiles, flagstones, bricks and similar articles, of cement, concrete or artificial stone exports from Lithuania, comprising 76% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was held by Latvia ($X), with a 15% share of total exports. It was followed by Russia, with a 3.2% share.

From 2012 to 2022, the average annual rate of growth in terms of value to Sweden totaled +84.3%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Latvia (-5.7% per year) and Russia (-16.2% per year).

Export Prices by Country

In 2022, the average concrete tile export price amounted to $X per ton, with an increase of 19% against the previous year. In general, the export price posted prominent growth. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2021 an increase of 88% against the previous year. The export price peaked in 2022 and is expected to retain growth in the immediate term.

Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Russia ($X per ton), while the average price for exports to Latvia ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Russia (+15.5%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

Concrete Tile Imports

Imports into Lithuania

After six years of growth, supplies from abroad of tiles, flagstones, bricks and similar articles, of cement, concrete or artificial stone decreased by -50.7% to X tons in 2022. Over the period under review, imports, however, enjoyed buoyant growth. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2019 when imports increased by 55%. Imports peaked at X tons in 2021, and then dropped significantly in the following year.

In value terms, concrete tile imports declined markedly to $X in 2022. In general, imports, however, recorded strong growth. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 when imports increased by 54% against the previous year. As a result, imports reached the peak of $X, and then fell notably in the following year.

Imports by Country

In 2022, Belarus (X tons) constituted the largest concrete tile supplier to Lithuania, accounting for a 57% share of total imports. Moreover, concrete tile imports from Belarus exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, Latvia (X tons), fourfold. Poland (X tons) ranked third in terms of total imports with a 13% share.

From 2012 to 2022, the average annual growth rate of volume from Belarus stood at +19.7%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Latvia (+0.0% per year) and Poland (+4.4% per year).

In value terms, Belarus ($X), Latvia ($X) and Poland ($X) constituted the largest concrete tile suppliers to Lithuania, with a combined 68% share of total imports. Sweden, Estonia and Luxembourg lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further 15%.

Among the main suppliers, Sweden, with a CAGR of +30.4%, saw the highest growth rate of the value of imports, over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Import Prices by Country

In 2022, the average concrete tile import price amounted to $X per ton, increasing by 35% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the import price, however, saw a relatively flat trend pattern. Over the period under review, average import prices attained the peak figure at $X per ton in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2022, import prices remained at a lower figure.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Estonia ($X per ton), while the price for Belarus ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Estonia (+3.7%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
