The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2016 when exports increased by 191% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the exports attained the peak figure at $X in 2017; however, from 2018 to 2022, the exports failed to regain momentum.

Poland (X tons) was the main destination for tissue paper exports from Lithuania, accounting for a 73% share of total exports. Moreover, tissue paper exports to Poland exceeded the volume sent to the second major destination, Latvia (X tons), fourfold. The third position in this ranking was held by Ukraine (X tons), with a 3.8% share.

From 2012 to 2022, the average annual rate of growth in terms of volume to Poland totaled +18.3%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Latvia (+14.9% per year) and Ukraine (+64.3% per year).

In value terms, Poland ($X) remains the key foreign market for toilet or facial tissue stock, towel and similar paper exports from Lithuania, comprising 70% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Latvia ($X), with a 9.3% share of total exports. It was followed by Ukraine, with a 4.8% share.

From 2012 to 2022, the average annual rate of growth in terms of value to Poland stood at +26.7%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Latvia (+15.4% per year) and Ukraine (+40.6% per year).

Over the period under review, imports, however, continue to indicate a resilient increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2013 when imports increased by 798% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports hit record highs at X tons in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2022, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

In value terms, tissue paper imports soared to $X in 2022. In general, imports, however, continue to indicate a significant increase. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2013 when imports increased by 755%. Over the period under review, imports attained the peak figure at $X in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2022, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

Russia (X tons), Belarus (X tons) and Poland (X tons) were the main suppliers of tissue paper imports to Lithuania, with a combined 82% share of total imports.
