The total export volume increased at an average annual rate of +1.6% from 2012 to 2022; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded in certain years. As a result, the exports reached the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

In value terms, textile wadding exports skyrocketed to $X in 2022. Over the period under review, exports showed a strong increase. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2017 when exports increased by 55% against the previous year. The exports peaked in 2022 and are likely to see gradual growth in years to come.

Russia (X tons), Turkey (X tons) and Belarus (X tons) were the main destinations of textile wadding exports from Lithuania, together comprising 44% of total exports. Greece, Serbia, Poland, Germany, Bulgaria, Switzerland, Romania, Ukraine, the Philippines and Nigeria lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further 36%.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of shipments, amongst the main countries of destination, was attained by the Philippines (with a CAGR of +200.0%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, the largest markets for textile wadding exported from Lithuania were Russia ($X), Turkey ($X) and Serbia ($X), together accounting for 41% of total exports. Greece, Belarus, Switzerland, Poland, the Philippines, Germany, Bulgaria, Ukraine, Nigeria and Romania lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further 36%.

In terms of the main countries of destination, the Philippines, with a CAGR of +190.3%, recorded the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of exports, over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Export Prices by Country

The average textile wadding export price stood at $X per ton in 2022, remaining constant against the previous year. In general, the export price posted a buoyant expansion. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 when the average export price increased by 27% against the previous year. The export price peaked in 2022 and is likely to continue growth in the near future.

Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was the Philippines ($X per ton), while the average price for exports to Belarus ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Serbia (+13.3%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2022, after two years of decline, there was significant growth in purchases abroad of wadding of textile materials and articles thereof, when their volume increased by 11% to X tons. In general, imports, however, continue to indicate a perceptible decline. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2015 when imports increased by 55% against the previous year. As a result, imports reached the peak of X tons. From 2016 to 2022, the growth of imports remained at a lower figure.

In value terms, textile wadding imports skyrocketed to $X in 2022. Overall, imports, however, continue to indicate a perceptible contraction. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2015 with an increase of 20%. As a result, imports attained the peak of $X. From 2016 to 2022, the growth of imports remained at a lower figure.

Imports by Country

In 2022, Bulgaria (X tons) constituted the largest textile wadding supplier to Lithuania, with a 53% share of total imports. Moreover, textile wadding imports from Bulgaria exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, Poland (X tons), fourfold. The third position in this ranking was taken by Latvia (X tons), with a 7.3% share.

From 2012 to 2022, the average annual rate of growth in terms of volume from Bulgaria amounted to +61.3%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Poland (-2.7% per year) and Latvia (+30.9% per year).

In value terms, Bulgaria ($X) constituted the largest supplier of wadding of textile materials and articles thereof to Lithuania, comprising 61% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was held by Poland ($X), with a 13% share of total imports. It was followed by Latvia, with a 6.8% share.

From 2012 to 2022, the average annual growth rate of value from Bulgaria stood at +66.7%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Poland (-3.8% per year) and Latvia (+23.0% per year).

Import Prices by Country

The average textile wadding import price stood at $X per ton in 2022, growing by 6% against the previous year. In general, the import price, however, recorded a pronounced setback. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2014 an increase of 33%. As a result, import price attained the peak level of $X per ton. From 2015 to 2022, the average import prices remained at a somewhat lower figure.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Italy ($X per ton), while the price for Estonia ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
