There were significant differences in the average prices for the major export markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was France ($X per ton), while the average price for exports to Italy ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.

In 2022, supplies from abroad of palm oil increased by 19% to X tons, rising for the second year in a row after three years of decline. Overall, imports, however, showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2015 with an increase of 79% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports attained the peak figure at X tons in 2017; however, from 2018 to 2022, imports remained at a lower figure.
In value terms, palm oil imports expanded significantly to $X in 2022. Over the period under review, imports, however, saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 with an increase of 73%. As a result, imports attained the peak of $X. From 2018 to 2022, the growth of imports failed to regain momentum.

In 2022, Sweden (X tons) constituted the largest palm oil supplier to Luxembourg, accounting for a 67% share of total imports. Moreover, palm oil imports from Sweden exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, Germany (X tons), threefold. The third position in this ranking was held by Belgium (X tons), with a 6.3% share.
From 2012 to 2022, the average annual growth rate of volume from Sweden stood at +1.4%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Germany (+12.4% per year) and Belgium (-17.1% per year).

In 2022, the average palm oil import price amounted to $X per ton, reducing by -8.3% against the previous year. Overall, the import price, however, showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2020 an increase of 26%. Over the period under review, average import prices hit record highs at $X per ton in 2021, and then fell in the following year.
Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was France ($X per ton), while the price for Germany ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
