The Philippines (X units), Romania (X units) and Australia (X units) were the main destinations of aircraft exports from Malaysia, together comprising 33% of total exports.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of shipments, amongst the main countries of destination, was attained by the Philippines (with a CAGR of 0.0%), while the other leaders experienced mixed trend patterns.
In value terms, Romania ($X) emerged as the key foreign market for airplanes and other aircraft exports from Malaysia, comprising 35% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was held by the United States ($X), with an 11% share of total exports. It was followed by Thailand, with a 9.1% share.

Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Romania ($X per unit), while the average price for exports to the Netherlands ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.

Imports into Malaysia
In 2022, after two years of decline, there was significant growth in purchases abroad of airplanes and other aircraft, when their volume increased by 28% to X units. Over the period under review, imports saw slight growth. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2013 with an increase of 211% against the previous year. As a result, imports attained the peak of X units. From 2014 to 2022, the growth of imports remained at a somewhat lower figure.
In value terms, aircraft imports soared to $X in 2022. In general, imports continue to indicate perceptible growth. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2019 with an increase of 9,463%. Over the period under review, imports reached the maximum at $X in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2022, imports remained at a lower figure.
Imports by Country
Spain (X units), China (X units) and Australia (X units) were the main suppliers of aircraft imports to Malaysia, with a combined 22% share of total imports.
From 2012 to 2022, the biggest increases were recorded for China (with a CAGR of +7.2%), while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, the United States ($X) constituted the largest supplier of airplanes and other aircraft to Malaysia, comprising 42% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was held by Austria ($X), with a 19% share of total imports. It was followed by Spain, with a 7.2% share.

The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2019 when the average import price increased by 5,091% against the previous year. Over the period under review, average import prices hit record highs at $X per unit in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2022, import prices remained at a lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was the United States ($X per unit), while the price for New Zealand ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by the Czech Republic (+35.7%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
