In value terms, non-wheat cereal pellets exports surged to $X in 2021. Overall, exports continue to indicate a buoyant expansion. Over the period under review, the exports hit record highs at $X in 2015; however, from 2016 to 2021, the exports remained at a lower figure.

Indonesia (X tons) was the main destination for non-wheat cereal pellets exports from Malaysia, with a 79% share of total exports. Moreover, non-wheat cereal pellets exports to Indonesia exceeded the volume sent to the second major destination, Bahrain (X tons), fourfold.

From 2012 to 2021, the average annual growth rate of volume to Indonesia amounted to +25.4%.

In value terms, Indonesia ($X) remains the key foreign market for cereal pellets (excluding wheat) exports from Malaysia, comprising 84% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Bahrain ($X), with an 11% share of total exports.

In general, imports saw a dramatic downturn. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2016 when imports increased by 325% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports reached the peak figure at X tons in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

In value terms, non-wheat cereal pellets imports shrank rapidly to $X in 2021. Overall, imports saw a precipitous curtailment. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2016 with an increase of 206%. Imports peaked at $X in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, imports failed to regain momentum.

In 2021, Australia (X tons) was the main non-wheat cereal pellets supplier to Malaysia, with a 91% share of total imports. Moreover, non-wheat cereal pellets imports from Australia exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, Taiwan (Chinese) (X kg), more than tenfold.

In general, the import price, however, continues to indicate moderate growth. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2014 when the average import price increased by 193%. As a result, import price attained the peak level of $X per ton. From 2015 to 2021, the average import prices failed to regain momentum.
