Over the period under review, imports, however, recorded a pronounced contraction. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2017 with an increase of 23%. Imports peaked at X tons in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, imports remained at a lower figure.

In value terms, computing machinery imports surged to $X in 2021. In general, imports, however, saw a mild downturn. Over the period under review, imports reached the maximum at $X in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, imports remained at a lower figure.

In 2021, Hong Kong SAR (X tons) constituted the largest supplier of computing machinery to Malaysia, accounting for a 31% share of total imports. Moreover, computing machinery imports from Hong Kong SAR exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, China (X tons), twofold. The United States (X tons) ranked third in terms of total imports with a 12% share.

Over the period under review, the import price recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2015 when the average import price increased by 18%.
