The United States, Turkey, Thailand, the United Arab Emirates, Poland, South Korea, Egypt, Kuwait, Russia and Italy lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further 37%.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of shipments, amongst the main countries of destination, was attained by Russia (with a CAGR of +307.8%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, India ($X), Mexico ($X) and the United States ($X) constituted the largest markets for copper pipe and fitting exported from Malaysia worldwide, together comprising 48% of total exports. In general, the export price, however, recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. Over the period under review, the average export prices hit record highs at $X per ton in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, the export prices failed to regain momentum.
Average prices varied noticeably for the major foreign markets. In 2021, amid the top suppliers, the countries with the highest prices were Poland ($X per ton) and Italy ($X per ton), while the average price for exports to the United Arab Emirates ($X per ton) and India ($X per ton) were amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Russia (+4.9%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

Imports into Malaysia
In 2021, overseas purchases of copper tubes, pipes and fitting decreased by -15.5% to X tons, falling for the second consecutive year after two years of growth. Over the period under review, imports saw a pronounced downturn. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2016 when imports increased by 29%. As a result, imports attained the peak of X tons. From 2017 to 2021, the growth of imports remained at a somewhat lower figure.
In value terms, copper pipe and fitting imports rose markedly to $X in 2021. Overall, imports recorded a perceptible curtailment. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2018 when imports increased by 14% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports hit record highs at $X in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2021, imports failed to regain momentum.
