Ginger Market Size in Malaysia

In 2022, the Malaysian ginger market decreased by -42.2% to $X, falling for the second year in a row after four years of growth. Over the period under review, consumption recorded a pronounced curtailment. Ginger consumption peaked at $X in 2020; however, from 2021 to 2022, consumption failed to regain momentum.

Over the period under review, the exports reached the maximum at X tons in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, the exports failed to regain momentum.

In value terms, ginger exports rose sharply to $X in 2022. Over the period under review, exports recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2014 with an increase of 173% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the exports attained the peak figure in 2022 and are likely to see gradual growth in years to come.

Singapore (X tons) and Brunei Darussalam (X tons) were the main destinations of ginger exports from Malaysia.
