Over the period under review, the exports attained the peak figure at X tons in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, the exports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

In value terms, halogenated hydrocarbon derivative exports fell to $X in 2022. Over the period under review, exports continue to indicate a precipitous contraction. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2021 with an increase of 38%. The exports peaked at $X in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, the exports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

Exports by Country

Singapore (X tons) was the main destination for halogenated hydrocarbon derivative exports from Malaysia, accounting for a 50% share of total exports. Moreover, halogenated hydrocarbon derivative exports to Singapore exceeded the volume sent to the second major destination, Vietnam (X tons), fourfold. The third position in this ranking was taken by Thailand (X tons), with an 8% share.

From 2012 to 2022, the average annual growth rate of volume to Singapore was relatively modest. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Vietnam (-47.7% per year) and Thailand (-0.2% per year).

In value terms, halogenated hydrocarbon derivative imports contracted to $X in 2022. In general, imports, however, saw a abrupt curtailment. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 with an increase of 31% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports attained the maximum at $X in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

In 2022, Indonesia (X tons) constituted the largest supplier of halogenated hydrocarbon derivative to Malaysia, accounting for a 44% share of total imports.
