The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2018 with an increase of 311% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports attained the peak figure at $X in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2021, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

Germany (X tons), Taiwan (Chinese) (X tons) and Singapore (X tons) were the main suppliers of hot-rolled free-cutting steel imports to Malaysia, together accounting for 66% of total imports. The United States and China lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further 4.1%.
