Over the period under review, imports hit record highs at X tons in 2020, and then contracted dramatically in the following year.

In value terms, industrial fatty alcohols imports fell notably to $X in 2021. Over the period under review, imports, however, continue to indicate a significant expansion. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2014 with an increase of 428%. Over the period under review, imports reached the peak figure at $X in 2020, and then fell dramatically in the following year.

In 2021, Indonesia (X tons) was the main industrial fatty alcohols supplier to Malaysia, with a 91% share of total imports. It was followed by Thailand (X tons), with a 2.4% share of total imports. Singapore (X tons) ranked third in terms of total imports with a 2.2% share.
