Singapore (X cubic meters), Brunei Darussalam (X cubic meters) and Thailand (X cubic meters) were the main destinations of nitrogen exports from Malaysia, together comprising 100% of total exports.

From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Thailand (-16.7%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced a decline.

Imports into Malaysia
In 2021, imports of nitrogen into Malaysia surged to X cubic meters, with an increase of 40% against the previous year's figure. In general, imports recorded a buoyant expansion. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 with an increase of 178% against the previous year. As a result, imports reached the peak of X cubic meters. From 2018 to 2021, the growth of imports remained at a somewhat lower figure.
In value terms, nitrogen imports soared to $X in 2021. Over the period under review, imports, however, recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 when imports increased by 93%. As a result, imports attained the peak of $X. From 2018 to 2021, the growth of imports remained at a somewhat lower figure.

In 2021, Singapore (X cubic meters) constituted the largest nitrogen supplier to Malaysia, with a 56% share of total imports. Moreover, nitrogen imports from Singapore exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, the United States (X cubic meters), threefold. The third position in this ranking was held by China (X cubic meters), with a 13% share.
From 2012 to 2021, the average annual growth rate of volume from Singapore stood at +4.8%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: the United States (+29.1% per year) and China (+23.0% per year).
In value terms, Singapore ($X) constituted the largest supplier of nitrogen to Malaysia, comprising 56% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was held by the United States ($X), with a 19% share of total imports. It was followed by China, with a 13% share.
From 2012 to 2021, the average annual growth rate of value from Singapore stood at -1.4%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: the United States (+9.2% per year) and China (+14.1% per year).
