In value terms, non-cellular polyethylene film imports expanded rapidly to $X in 2021. In general, imports, however, continue to indicate buoyant growth. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2016 when imports increased by 35%. Imports peaked at $X in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2021, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

In 2021, China (X tons) constituted the largest supplier of non-cellular polyethylene film to Malaysia, with a 44% share of total imports. Moreover, non-cellular polyethylene film imports from China exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, Japan (X tons), twofold.
