In 2022, overseas purchases of primary cells and batteries decreased by -13.3% to X units, falling for the second year in a row after two years of growth. Overall, total imports indicated a temperate increase from 2012 to 2022: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +3.6% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports decreased by -17.2% against 2020 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 when imports increased by 37% against the previous year. Imports peaked at X units in 2020; however, from 2021 to 2022, imports remained at a lower figure.
In value terms, primary cell and battery imports reduced to $X in 2022. In general, total imports indicated a remarkable increase from 2012 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +6.6% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports increased by +53.2% against 2014 indices. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2017 when imports increased by 34% against the previous year. Imports peaked at $X in 2021, and then shrank in the following year.
