The second position in the ranking was held by Thailand ($X), with a 17% share of total exports. It was followed by Qatar, with a 14% share.
From 2012 to 2021, the average annual growth rate of value to China totaled +77.1%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Thailand (-19.6% per year) and Qatar (+25.9% per year).

In 2021, the average railway sleeper export price amounted to $X per cubic meter, therefore, remained relatively stable against the previous year. In general, the export price showed a mild downturn. Overall, imports, however, saw a significant expansion. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2013 when imports increased by 91%. Over the period under review, imports reached the maximum at X cubic meters in 2020, and then dropped in the following year.
In value terms, railway sleeper imports reached $X in 2021. Over the period under review, imports, however, continue to indicate prominent growth. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2014 with an increase of 55%. Over the period under review, imports reached the maximum in 2021 and are likely to continue growth in years to come.

Singapore (X cubic meters) and China (X cubic meters) were the main suppliers of railway sleeper imports to Malaysia.
