In 2022, the Malaysian market for raspberries, blackberries, blueberries, and cranberries decreased by -17.3% to $X for the first time since 2019, thus ending a two-year rising trend. Overall, consumption, however, enjoyed significant growth. Over the period under review, the market hit record highs at $X in 2021, and then reduced sharply in the following year.

In 2022, overseas shipments of raspberries, blackberries, blueberries, and cranberries increased by 6.9% to X tons, rising for the second year in a row after two years of decline. In general, exports continue to indicate a strong increase. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2021 when exports increased by 316%. The exports peaked at X tons in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2022, the exports stood at a somewhat lower figure.
In value terms, raspberry, blackberry, blueberry, and cranberry exports fell to $X in 2022. Overall, exports enjoyed a significant increase. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2021 when exports increased by 328% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the exports attained the peak figure at $X in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2022, the exports remained at a lower figure.

Singapore (X tons) and Vietnam (X tons) were the main destinations of raspberry, blackberry, blueberry, and cranberry exports from Malaysia.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of shipments, amongst the main countries of destination, was attained by Vietnam (with a CAGR of +40.5%).
In value terms, the largest markets for raspberry, blackberry, blueberry, and cranberry exported from Malaysia were Vietnam ($X) and Singapore ($X).
Vietnam, with a CAGR of +22.0%, saw the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of exports, in terms of the main countries of destination over the period under review.

The average export price for raspberries, blackberries, blueberries, and cranberries stood at $X per ton in 2022, declining by -16.5% against the previous year. In general, the export price, however, saw a buoyant expansion. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2018 an increase of 56% against the previous year. As a result, the export price attained the peak level of $X per ton. From 2019 to 2022, the average export prices failed to regain momentum.
Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Vietnam ($X per ton), while the average price for exports to Singapore stood at $X per ton.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Indonesia (+14.5%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

Imports into Malaysia
In 2022, after two years of growth, there was significant decline in purchases abroad of raspberries, blackberries, blueberries, and cranberries, when their volume decreased by -15.6% to X tons. Over the period under review, imports, however, showed prominent growth. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2015 when imports increased by 57%. Over the period under review, imports attained the maximum at X tons in 2021, and then declined markedly in the following year.
In value terms, raspberry, blackberry, blueberry, and cranberry imports shrank notably to $X in 2022. In general, imports, however, posted a significant expansion. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2015 with an increase of 171% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports reached the maximum at $X in 2021, and then shrank markedly in the following year.
Imports by Country
South Africa (X tons), the United States (X tons) and Spain (X tons) were the main suppliers of raspberry, blackberry, blueberry, and cranberry imports to Malaysia, together accounting for 57% of total imports. Argentina, Morocco, Mexico, Chile and Peru lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further 34%.
From 2012 to 2022, the biggest increases were recorded for Mexico (with a CAGR of +135.0%), while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, the largest raspberry, blackberry, blueberry, and cranberry suppliers to Malaysia were South Africa ($X), the United States ($X) and Spain ($X), with a combined 56% share of total imports. Argentina, Morocco, Chile, Peru and Mexico lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further 37%.
In terms of the main suppliers, Mexico, with a CAGR of +124.5%, saw the highest growth rate of the value of imports, over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
Import Prices by Country
In 2022, the average import price for raspberries, blackberries, blueberries, and cranberries amounted to $X per ton, reducing by -2.7% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the import price, however, showed a resilient increase. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2015 an increase of 73% against the previous year. The import price peaked at $X per ton in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2022, import prices failed to regain momentum.
Average prices varied somewhat amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the highest price was recorded for prices from Peru ($X per ton) and Spain ($X per ton), while the price for Mexico ($X per ton) and the United States ($X per ton) were amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Chile (+10.9%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
