Over the period under review, total exports indicated a remarkable increase from 2012 to 2021: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +9.1% over the last nine-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2021 figures, exports increased by +118.4% against 2012 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2014 with an increase of 21%. Over the period under review, the exports of attained the peak figure in 2021 and are likely to continue growth in years to come.

In value terms, exports of sunflower-seed or safflower oil, refined, but not chemically modified surged to $X in 2021. In general, exports enjoyed resilient growth. As a result, the exports reached the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

Australia (X tons), Singapore (X tons) and Thailand (X tons) were the main destinations of exports of sunflower-seed or safflower oil, refined, but not chemically modified from Malaysia, with a combined 60% share of total exports. These countries were followed by Indonesia, Vietnam, Papua New Guinea, New Zealand, the Philippines, Japan, Cambodia, New Caledonia, Myanmar and Maldives, which together accounted for a further 33%.
