The Malaysian refrigerated show-cases market fell to $X in 2022, which is down by -11.7% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the total consumption indicated a moderate increase from 2012 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +4.4% over the last decade. In value terms, refrigerated show-cases production reduced to $X in 2022 estimated in export price. In general, the total production indicated a perceptible increase from 2012 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +4.4% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, production increased by +6.5% against 2020 indices. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2016 when the production volume increased by 24% against the previous year. Exports from Malaysia

In 2022, exports of refrigerated show-caseses from Malaysia skyrocketed to X units, picking up by 18% on the year before. In general, exports enjoyed a prominent expansion. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 with an increase of 64%. As a result, the exports attained the peak of X units. From 2018 to 2022, the growth of the exports remained at a somewhat lower figure.

In value terms, refrigerated show-cases exports expanded significantly to $X in 2022. Over the period under review, total exports indicated a modest expansion from 2012 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +1.8% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, exports decreased by -40.1% against 2017 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 when exports increased by 48% against the previous year. As a result, the exports attained the peak of $X. From 2018 to 2022, the growth of the exports remained at a lower figure.

Exports by Country

Vietnam (X units), Indonesia (X units) and Thailand (X units) were the main destinations of refrigerated show-cases exports from Malaysia, together accounting for 32% of total exports. The United States, Germany, Bangladesh, Australia, Singapore, Taiwan (Chinese), the Philippines, Russia, the United Arab Emirates and France lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further 45%.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of shipments, amongst the main countries of destination, was attained by Bangladesh (with a CAGR of +54.7%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, Vietnam ($X), Australia ($X) and Singapore ($X) appeared to be the largest markets for refrigerated show-cases exported from Malaysia worldwide, with a combined 31% share of total exports. Indonesia, the United Arab Emirates, Germany, Thailand, the United States, Taiwan (Chinese), Bangladesh, France, the Philippines and Russia lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further 39%.

Russia, with a CAGR of +32.9%, recorded the highest growth rate of the value of exports, among the main countries of destination over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Export Prices by Country

The average refrigerated show-cases export price stood at $X per unit in 2022, dropping by -9.1% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price recorded a abrupt curtailment. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2021 an increase of 14% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the average export prices hit record highs at $X per unit in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2022, the export prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.

Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was the United Arab Emirates ($X per unit), while the average price for exports to Bangladesh ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Germany (-1.3%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced a decline.

Imports into Malaysia

In 2022, purchases abroad of refrigerated show-caseses decreased by -24% to X units for the first time since 2018, thus ending a three-year rising trend. Overall, imports, however, saw temperate growth. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2021 with an increase of 79% against the previous year. As a result, imports attained the peak of X units, and then shrank dramatically in the following year.

In value terms, refrigerated show-cases imports contracted markedly to $X in 2022. In general, imports, however, enjoyed a resilient increase. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2021 when imports increased by 72% against the previous year. As a result, imports reached the peak of $X, and then dropped remarkably in the following year.

Imports by Country

In 2022, China (X units) constituted the largest refrigerated show-cases supplier to Malaysia, with a 89% share of total imports. Moreover, refrigerated show-cases imports from China exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, Thailand (X units), more than tenfold. The third position in this ranking was taken by Singapore (X units), with a 2.7% share.

From 2012 to 2022, the average annual growth rate of volume from China amounted to +7.7%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Thailand (-9.0% per year) and Singapore (+22.3% per year).

In value terms, China ($X) constituted the largest supplier of refrigerated show-caseses to Malaysia, comprising 89% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was held by Thailand ($X), with a 3.6% share of total imports. It was followed by Singapore, with a 0.9% share.

From 2012 to 2022, the average annual growth rate of value from China totaled +12.9%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Thailand (-16.6% per year) and Singapore (+15.5% per year).

Import Prices by Country

The average refrigerated show-cases import price stood at $X per unit in 2022, with an increase of 4.1% against the previous year. In general, the import price continues to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2018 when the average import price increased by 42% against the previous year. The import price peaked at $X per unit in 2016; however, from 2017 to 2022, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Indonesia ($X per unit), while the price for Singapore ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Indonesia (+15.9%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced mixed trend patterns.
