India (X units), Singapore (X units) and Thailand (X units) were the main destinations of commercial refrigeration equipment exports from Malaysia, together accounting for 44% of total exports. Indonesia, the United States, Turkey, Sri Lanka, Vietnam, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Saudi Arabia, Germany and Panama lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further 36%.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of shipments, amongst the main countries of destination, was attained by Sri Lanka (with a CAGR of +33.6%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2021, the average commercial refrigeration equipment export price amounted to $X per unit, falling by -2.6% against the previous year. Over the last nine years, it increased at an average annual rate of +2.1%. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2013 an increase of 26%. As a result, the export price reached the peak level of $X per unit. From 2014 to 2021, the average export prices remained at a somewhat lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Germany ($X per unit), while the average price for exports to Sri Lanka ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.

Overall, imports, however, saw a perceptible setback. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2015 when imports increased by 25%. Over the period under review, imports reached the peak figure at X units in 2016; however, from 2017 to 2021, imports remained at a lower figure.
In value terms, commercial refrigeration equipment imports reached $X in 2021. The total import value increased at an average annual rate of +1.1% over the period from 2012 to 2021; the trend pattern remained relatively stable, with only minor fluctuations being observed in certain years. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2018 with an increase of 29% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports reached the peak figure in 2021 and are expected to retain growth in years to come.
Imports by Country
In 2021, China (X units) constituted the largest supplier of commercial refrigeration equipment to Malaysia, with a 79% share of total imports. Moreover, commercial refrigeration equipment imports from China exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, the United States (X units), ninefold. The third position in this ranking was taken by Thailand (X units), with a 3.3% share.
