Over the period under review, the exports reached the maximum at X cubic meters in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, the exports remained at a lower figure.

In value terms, coniferous roundwood exports surged to $X in 2022. In general, exports, however, showed a abrupt descent. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2021 when exports increased by 400% against the previous year. The exports peaked at $X in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, the exports remained at a lower figure.

Exports by Country

China (X cubic meters) was the main destination for coniferous roundwood exports from Malaysia, with a 51% share of total exports. Moreover, coniferous roundwood exports to China exceeded the volume sent to the second major destination, Japan (X cubic meters), twofold. The third position in this ranking was held by Taiwan (Chinese) (X cubic meters), with an 18% share.

The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 when imports increased by 1,196%. Imports peaked at X cubic meters in 2015; however, from 2016 to 2022, imports remained at a lower figure.

In value terms, coniferous roundwood imports reduced to $X in 2022. In general, imports recorded a strong expansion. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 with an increase of 889% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports attained the maximum at $X in 2015; however, from 2016 to 2022, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

In 2022, New Zealand (X cubic meters) constituted the largest coniferous roundwood supplier to Malaysia, with a 68% share of total imports.
