As a result, the exports attained the peak of X units. From 2019 to 2022, the growth of the exports remained at a lower figure.
In value terms, semiconductor thyristor exports reduced to $X in 2022. In general, exports, however, continue to indicate slight growth. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2018 when exports increased by 445% against the previous year. As a result, the exports attained the peak of $X. From 2019 to 2022, the growth of the exports remained at a lower figure.
Exports by Country
India (X units), Hong Kong SAR (X units) and Singapore (X units) were the main destinations of semiconductor thyristor exports from Malaysia, with a combined 69% share of total exports.
From 2012 to 2022, the biggest increases were recorded for India (with a CAGR of +94.4%), while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, India ($X), Hong Kong SAR ($X) and Singapore ($X) appeared to be the largest markets for semiconductor thyristor exported from Malaysia worldwide, together comprising 69% of total exports.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to South Korea (+5.7%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced a decline.

Imports into Malaysia
In 2022, semiconductor thyristor imports into Malaysia contracted rapidly to X units, waning by -42.9% compared with the previous year. Over the period under review, imports, however, saw a resilient increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2018 when imports increased by 204% against the previous year. Imports peaked at X units in 2021, and then shrank dramatically in the following year.
In value terms, semiconductor thyristor imports fell dramatically to $X in 2022. Overall, imports, however, enjoyed a resilient increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 when imports increased by 163% against the previous year. As a result, imports reached the peak of $X, and then shrank markedly in the following year.

In 2022, China (X units) constituted the largest semiconductor thyristor supplier to Malaysia, with a 46% share of total imports. Moreover, semiconductor thyristor imports from China exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, Japan (X units), twofold. Singapore (X units) ranked third in terms of total imports with an 11% share.

From 2012 to 2022, the average annual rate of growth in terms of value from China amounted to +19.5%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Japan (+2.6% per year) and Singapore (+1.7% per year).

Over the period under review, the import price recorded a relatively flat trend pattern.
