Loudspeaker Market Size in Malaysia

In 2021, the Malaysian loudspeaker market decreased by -25.5% to $X for the first time since 2018, thus ending a two-year rising trend. In general, consumption, however, enjoyed a prominent increase. Loudspeaker consumption peaked at $X in 2020, and then contracted sharply in the following year.

In 2021, overseas shipments of single loudspeakers (in enclosure) decreased by -1.3% to X units, falling for the second year in a row after three years of growth. Over the period under review, exports, however, posted a resilient increase. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2015 when exports increased by 82%. The exports peaked at X units in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2021, the exports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

In value terms, loudspeaker exports declined to $X in 2021. In general, total exports indicated temperate growth from 2012 to 2021: its value increased at an average annual rate of +2.3% over the last nine years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2021 figures, exports decreased by -24.3% against 2018 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2015 when exports increased by 53% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the exports hit record highs at $X in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2021, the exports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

China (X units), India (X units) and Singapore (X units) were the main destinations of loudspeaker exports from Malaysia, with a combined 44% share of total exports. These countries were followed by Japan, Mexico, Belgium, Vietnam, Slovenia, the United States, Greece, Germany, Cambodia and the Netherlands, which together accounted for a further 50%.

From 2012 to 2021, the biggest increases were recorded for Cambodia (with a CAGR of +319.8%), while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, Japan ($X), Mexico ($X) and China ($X) appeared to be the largest markets for loudspeaker exported from Malaysia worldwide, together accounting for 44% of total exports. These countries were followed by Singapore, India, Slovenia, Greece, the United States, Belgium, Germany, Vietnam, Cambodia and the Netherlands, which together accounted for a further 47%.

Slovenia, with a CAGR of +156.0%, recorded the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of exports, among the main countries of destination over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2021, the average loudspeaker export price amounted to $X per unit, which is down by -8.5% against the previous year. Overall, the export price continues to indicate a abrupt setback. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2017 an increase of 20% against the previous year. The export price peaked at $X per unit in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, the export prices remained at a lower figure.

Prices varied noticeably country of destination: the country with the highest price was the Netherlands ($X per unit), while the average price for exports to Vietnam ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2021, the average annual growth rate of value from China amounted to +11.6%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Hong Kong SAR (+2.7% per year) and Vietnam (+65.2% per year).

The average loudspeaker import price stood at $X per unit in 2021, shrinking by -32.5% against the previous year. In general, the import price, however, continues to indicate a resilient expansion. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2016 an increase of 40%. Over the period under review, average import prices reached the peak figure at $X per unit in 2020, and then dropped rapidly in the following year.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2021, the country with the highest price was Indonesia ($X per unit), while the price for Hong Kong SAR ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.
