In value terms, imports of caustic soda in the solid form rose notably to $X in 2021. Overall, imports, however, recorded a pronounced slump. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2017 when imports increased by 48% against the previous year. Imports peaked at $X in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2021, imports remained at a lower figure.

Indonesia (X tons), Thailand (X tons) and China (X tons) were the main suppliers of imports of caustic soda in the solid form to Malaysia, with a combined 54% share of total imports.
