The Malaysian data storage device market fell notably to $X in 2022, waning by -26.7% against the previous year. In general, consumption, however, recorded modest growth. Data storage device consumption peaked at $X in 2016; however, from 2017 to 2022, consumption stood at a somewhat lower figure.

Germany, the Czech Republic, Hong Kong SAR, the United States, China, the UK, Vietnam and Singapore lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further 39%.

Imports peaked at X units in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2022, imports failed to regain momentum.

In value terms, data storage device imports declined modestly to $X in 2022. Over the period under review, imports, however, showed a deep reduction. In 2022, Thailand (X units) constituted the largest data storage device supplier to Malaysia, with a 54% share of total imports. Moreover, data storage device imports from Thailand exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, China (X units), threefold.
