In 2022, the amount of television receivers exported from Malaysia shrank modestly to X units, with a decrease of -2.8% on 2021. Overall, exports showed a deep setback. Over the period under review, the exports reached the maximum at X units in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2022, the exports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

Japan (X units), Vietnam (X units) and the United Arab Emirates (X units) were the main destinations of television receiver exports from Malaysia, together accounting for 56% of total exports. Thailand, Australia, the Philippines, Russia, Singapore, Indonesia, Taiwan (Chinese), Hong Kong SAR, Saudi Arabia and Poland lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further 36%.
From 2012 to 2022, the biggest increases were recorded for Poland (with a CAGR of +49.1%), while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, Japan ($X) remains the key foreign market for television receivers exports from Malaysia, comprising 31% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Australia ($X), with a 14% share of total exports. It was followed by Vietnam, with a 12% share.
From 2012 to 2022, the average annual rate of growth in terms of value to Japan stood at +1.2%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Australia (-9.8% per year) and Vietnam (+11.7% per year).

Television receiver imports into Malaysia declined sharply to X units in 2022, which is down by -27.6% on 2021 figures. In general, total imports indicated a prominent expansion from 2012 to 2022: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +7.9% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports increased by +33.8% against 2020 indices. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2013 with an increase of 128% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports hit record highs at X units in 2021, and then contracted rapidly in the following year.
In value terms, television receiver imports shrank sharply to $X in 2022. Overall, imports, however, showed prominent growth. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2013 when imports increased by 250% against the previous year. Imports peaked at $X in 2021, and then fell rapidly in the following year.
Imports by Country
China (X units), Indonesia (X units) and Vietnam (X units) were the main suppliers of television receiver imports to Malaysia, with a combined 77% share of total imports. Singapore, Lithuania and Thailand lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further 20%.
From 2012 to 2022, the biggest increases were recorded for Lithuania (with a CAGR of +101.1%), while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, Indonesia ($X), Vietnam ($X) and China ($X) appeared to be the largest television receiver suppliers to Malaysia, together accounting for 91% of total imports. Singapore, Thailand and Lithuania lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further 6.3%.

Over the period under review, import price indicated a remarkable increase from 2012 to 2022: its price increased at an average annual rate of +8.5% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period.
