Hong Kong SAR (X units), Thailand (X units) and Singapore (X units) were the main destinations of watch exports from Malaysia, with a combined 85% share of total exports. China lagged somewhat behind, comprising a further 8.1%.

The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2017 with an increase of 12% against the previous year. Hong Kong SAR (X units), China (X units) and Singapore (X units) were the main suppliers of watch imports to Malaysia, together accounting for 78% of total imports. These countries were followed by Thailand, Switzerland, Japan and Qatar, which together accounted for a further 17%.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of purchases, amongst the main suppliers, was attained by Qatar (with a CAGR of +26.6%), while imports for the other leaders experienced mixed trend patterns.
In value terms, Singapore ($X), Switzerland ($X) and Hong Kong SAR ($X) were the largest watch suppliers to Malaysia, with a combined 81% share of total imports. These countries were followed by China, Thailand, Japan and Qatar, which together accounted for a further 13%.
Thailand, with a CAGR of +22.4%, recorded the highest growth rate of the value of imports, among the main suppliers over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced mixed trend patterns.
Import Prices by Country
In 2021, the average watch import price amounted to $X per unit, picking up by 2.2% against the previous year. Over the period under review, import price indicated a prominent increase from 2012 to 2021: its price increased at an average annual rate of +7.8% over the last nine-year period.
