Moreover, Israel emerged as the fastest-growing exporter exported in MENA, with a CAGR of +82.3% from 2012-2021. Morocco experienced a relatively flat trend pattern. While the share of the United Arab Emirates (+6 p.p.), Israel (+4.9 p.p.) and Iran (+3.7 p.p.) increased significantly in terms of the total exports from 2012-2021, the share of Morocco (-7 p.p.) displayed negative dynamics. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.

In value terms, Turkey ($X) remains the largest acid and mordant dye supplier in MENA, comprising 81% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Morocco ($X), with a 12% share of total exports. It was followed by the United Arab Emirates, with a 2.5% share.

In Turkey, acid and mordant dye exports expanded at an average annual rate of +15.0% over the period from 2012-2021. The remaining exporting countries recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Morocco (+1.3% per year) and the United Arab Emirates (+29.7% per year).

Export Prices by Country

In 2021, the export price in MENA amounted to $X per ton, rising by 13% against the previous year. Over the last nine-year period, it increased at an average annual rate of +5.8%. In 2021, approx. X tons of acid and mordant dyes and preparations based thereon were imported in MENA; picking up by 22% against 2020. In general, imports, however, showed a mild slump. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2014 with an increase of 29% against the previous year. As a result, imports attained the peak of X tons. From 2015 to 2021, the growth of imports failed to regain momentum.

Moreover, the United Arab Emirates emerged as the fastest-growing importer imported in MENA, with a CAGR of +5.0% from 2012-2021. Tunisia experienced a relatively flat trend pattern. By contrast, Iran (-2.3%), Djibouti (-4.6%) and Egypt (-12.1%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. From 2012 to 2021, the share of Turkey increased by +16 percentage points. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.

In value terms, Turkey ($X) constitutes the largest market for imported acid and mordant dyes and preparations based thereon in MENA, comprising 66% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Egypt ($X), with an 8.5% share of total imports. It was followed by Iran, with a 5.8% share.
