The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2021 with an increase of 30% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the exports reached the peak figure at X tons in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2022, the exports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

In value terms, stamp and photo collection album exports reduced to $X in 2022. In general, exports continue to indicate a perceptible setback. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2018 with an increase of 16%. As a result, the exports reached the peak of $X. The following exporters - Syrian Arab Republic (X tons) and Egypt (X tons) - each accounted for a 3.9% share of total exports.

From 2012 to 2022, average annual rates of growth with regard to stamp and photo collection album exports from Tunisia stood at +2.7%. In 2022, the amount of albums for samples, collections, stamps or photographs imported in MENA fell markedly to X tons, waning by -67.4% on 2021. Over the period under review, imports continue to indicate a deep contraction. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2019 when imports increased by 30% against the previous year. The volume of import peaked at X tons in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2022, imports failed to regain momentum.

In value terms, stamp and photo collection album imports declined sharply to $X in 2022. Overall, imports saw a abrupt curtailment. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2021 with an increase of 29%. The level of import peaked at $X in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2022, imports remained at a lower figure.

In 2022, Iran (X tons), the United Arab Emirates (X tons), Israel (X tons) and Iraq (X tons) represented the key importer of albums for samples, collections, stamps or photographs in MENA, creating 65% of total import. Turkey (X tons) ranks next in terms of the total imports with a 5% share, followed by Tunisia (4.8%) and Kuwait (4.7%). Oman (X tons), Morocco (X tons), Djibouti (X tons), Yemen (X tons) and Libya (X tons) followed a long way behind the leaders.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of purchases, amongst the key importing countries, was attained by Djibouti (with a CAGR of +12.2%), while imports for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, the United Arab Emirates ($X), Israel ($X) and Iran ($X) appeared to be the countries with the highest levels of imports in 2022, with a combined 55% share of total imports. Iraq, Turkey, Morocco, Kuwait, Tunisia, Oman, Djibouti, Yemen and Libya lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further 41%.

In terms of the main importing countries, Djibouti, with a CAGR of +22.7%, saw the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of imports, over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Import Prices by Country

In 2022, the import price in MENA amounted to $X per ton, increasing by 68% against the previous year. Import price indicated a strong increase from 2012 to 2022: its price increased at an average annual rate of +5.1% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, stamp and photo collection album import price increased by +86.8% against 2019 indices. As a result, import price attained the peak level and is likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
