Aluminium Tube Market Size in MENA

The MENA's aluminium tube market dropped rapidly to $X in 2022, declining by -15.6% against the previous year. The total consumption indicated a temperate increase from 2012 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +2.9% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, consumption increased by +51.3% against 2020 indices. As a result, consumption attained the peak level of $X, and then reduced sharply in the following year.

In value terms, aluminium tube production fell remarkably to $X in 2022 estimated in export price. Over the period under review, production, however, saw buoyant growth. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2018 when the production volume increased by 107%. Over the period under review, production reached the peak level at $X in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2022, production remained at a lower figure.

Exports in MENA

In 2022, shipments abroad of aluminium tubes and pipes decreased by -0.6% to X tons, falling for the second year in a row after three years of growth. Over the period under review, exports, however, continue to indicate a resilient increase. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2019 with an increase of 50%. The volume of export peaked at X tons in 2020; however, from 2021 to 2022, the exports remained at a lower figure.

In value terms, aluminium tube exports reached $X in 2022. Total exports indicated strong growth from 2012 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +5.4% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, exports increased by +55.4% against 2018 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2019 when exports increased by 28%. Over the period under review, the exports reached the maximum in 2022 and are likely to see steady growth in the immediate term.

Exports by Country

In 2022, Saudi Arabia (X tons) represented the main exporter of aluminium tubes and pipes, achieving 46% of total exports. It was distantly followed by Turkey (X tons), Oman (X tons) and the United Arab Emirates (X tons), together making up a 50% share of total exports. Bahrain (X tons) took a little share of total exports.

Saudi Arabia was also the fastest-growing in terms of the aluminium tubes and pipes exports, with a CAGR of +71.9% from 2012 to 2022. At the same time, Oman (+52.8%), Bahrain (+11.8%) and the United Arab Emirates (+5.0%) displayed positive paces of growth. By contrast, Turkey (-5.4%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. Saudi Arabia (+46 p.p.) and Oman (+22 p.p.) significantly strengthened its position in terms of the total exports, while the United Arab Emirates and Turkey saw its share reduced by -1.5% and -60.4% from 2012 to 2022, respectively. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.

In value terms, the largest aluminium tube supplying countries in MENA were Saudi Arabia ($X), Turkey ($X) and Oman ($X), together comprising 92% of total exports.

In terms of the main exporting countries, Saudi Arabia, with a CAGR of +76.2%, recorded the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of exports, over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Export Prices by Country

In 2022, the export price in MENA amounted to $X per ton, surging by 1.9% against the previous year. Overall, the export price, however, continues to indicate a noticeable decrease. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2021 an increase of 15% against the previous year. The level of export peaked at $X per ton in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, the export prices remained at a lower figure.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major exporting countries. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Turkey ($X per ton), while the United Arab Emirates ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Bahrain (+4.4%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Imports in MENA

In 2022, imports of aluminium tubes and pipes in MENA expanded rapidly to X tons, growing by 12% against 2021 figures. Total imports indicated a noticeable expansion from 2012 to 2022: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +4.5% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports decreased by -5.3% against 2020 indices. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2019 when imports increased by 58%. The volume of import peaked at X tons in 2020; however, from 2021 to 2022, imports remained at a lower figure.

In value terms, aluminium tube imports expanded sharply to $X in 2022. In general, imports showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2019 with an increase of 40%. Over the period under review, imports hit record highs in 2022 and are likely to see gradual growth in the near future.

Imports by Country

Oman represented the main importer of aluminium tubes and pipes in MENA, with the volume of imports amounting to X tons, which was near 45% of total imports in 2022. Yemen (X tons) took the second position in the ranking, distantly followed by the United Arab Emirates (X tons). All these countries together held near 32% share of total imports. Algeria (X tons), Palestine (X tons), Iraq (X tons), Iran (X tons), Egypt (X tons), Tunisia (X tons) and Morocco (X tons) followed a long way behind the leaders.

From 2012 to 2022, the biggest increases were recorded for Yemen (with a CAGR of +72.2%), while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, Oman ($X) constitutes the largest market for imported aluminium tubes and pipes in MENA, comprising 44% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was held by Yemen ($X), with a 12% share of total imports. It was followed by the United Arab Emirates, with a 7% share.

In Oman, aluminium tube imports increased at an average annual rate of +35.6% over the period from 2012-2022. In the other countries, the average annual rates were as follows: Yemen (+58.2% per year) and the United Arab Emirates (-2.1% per year).

Import Prices by Country

In 2022, the import price in MENA amounted to $X per ton, which is down by -4.2% against the previous year. In general, the import price recorded a pronounced decrease. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2021 an increase of 14% against the previous year. Over the period under review, import prices hit record highs at $X per ton in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, import prices remained at a lower figure.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major importing countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Egypt ($X per ton), while Yemen ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Morocco (+3.7%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
